Our Royal Wedding Predictions

12th May 2018 by Carrie

What we think Meghan will wear for the Royal Wedding

Royal wedding wedding dress prediction

Next week will be the moment the world of bridal has been waiting for, the first glimpse of Meghan Markle’s wedding dress. As every bridal boutique, at CCBB we have been chatting about what Meghan is likely to wear and here are our predictions!

Meghan’s Style

Meghan’s style is typically classic, a lover of oversized white shirts and fitted trousers, often in monochrome tones. For events Meghan is often seen wearing structured dresses with A-line or pencil skirts. Meghan is rarely seen without straps or some form of shoulder cover. Overall her style can be called polished perfection with a touch of dishevelment.

Designer

The rumoured designer for the royal wedding dress is Ralph and Russo. Ralph and Russo was founded by the Australian couple Tamara Ralph and Micheal Russo. Based in London Ralph and Russo is the only English couture fashion label. Famed for their accessible luxury, their magnificent wedding dresses often require handlers on the catwalk to assist models pivot and turn- let’s hope Meghan’s is slightly easier. A key feature of the Ralph and Russo wedding dress is the elegant embroidery and veil.

Our thoughts

We think Meghan, as a royal bride will have a wedding dress made of structured  silk in a classic silhouette such as A-line, such as Stella York 6634. True to Meghan’s style, and following royal traditions we expect the wedding gown to feature sleeves or at the very least straps. Meghan favours v necks and we expect the dress to feature this neckline. Meghan is a fan of draped fabric with minimal detail and we believe the detailing on the gown to feature pleated or ruched material with some embroidery, especially on the train.

Evening Dress

Meghan is expected to have two wedding dresses, and we expect her evening gown to be more reflective of Meghans style. We envisage a fitted top, with either a slim or a-line skirt. Meghan may opt for a high neckline or a off the shoulder style dress. Could she surprise us all with a touch of colour?

Accessories

Typically royal brides wear tiaras and we do not expect Meghan to break the tradition, wearing her hair down or to the side we expect a glorious tiara to be accessorised with small earrings.

We can’t wait to see what Meghan chooses for her wedding day and look forward to seeing if our prediction is right! What do you think the royal bride will choose? Will you be following Meghan’s style?

Love Carrie and the team xxx

Your Guide to Weddings Abroad

3rd August 2016 by Carrie

Your Guide to Weddings Abroad

After the summers fleeting appearance, we wanted to celebrate the sunshine with today’s blog, and our fabulous intern Elese took the chance to write a blog about weddings abroad. ( We are all busy doing sun dances here at the boutique!)

A wedding abroad sounds like a great way to celebrate such a joyous occasion, and a perfect way to escape the famous rain here in Britain, but where to start?

You can get married in many different countries, and with so many different venues to choose from… and weddings abroad can be a little overwhelming.

A beach wedding, or a scenic backdrop of the Icelandic volcanoes or geothermic pools sound perfect for that summer wedding. For a magical winter wonderland celebration you could opt for the snow covered woodland in Lapland.  Perhaps you would prefer a more traditional church wedding, but with a different setting. No matter what you would prefer there is a country that can cater for your every need.

It can be a little daunting at first, but it’s not as complicated as it may seem. Once you have chosen where you would like to go, you need to get in contact with the local authorities in your chosen destination to find out the process you need to take. If you’re a British national, you will need to provide some documentation such as your passports (10 year and valid for at least 6 months after your return to the UK), your full length birth certificates – showing both your parents full names, if you have previously been married you will need to provide the legal evidence of your single status, such as decree absolute, and if applicable adoption and/or deed poll certificates.

And don’t worry if you think your marriage won’t be valid in the UK, so long as you follow the correct procedure you won’t need to re-register. However you’re certificate may be issued in the main language of the country, in which case you will need to get it translated (at a slight cost); we suggest you use a certified translation company.

Depending on the country you decide on, your wedding ceremony may have to be performed in the local language, there will then be a translator to translate to English for you, so don’t panic! If you would like a catholic wedding abroad you will have to make sure of the following:

  • Neither bride or groom may be divorced
  • You must be regular church-goers
  • At least one partner (sometimes both) must have been christened a catholic
  • You must have spoken to you local priest to ensure that he/she is happy for you to have a catholic ceremony abroad
  • Your catholic priest is required to write to the priest overseas to confirm that he/she is happy for you to have a catholic wedding abroad
  • The paperwork is then done between your catholic priest here in the UK and the one overseas
  • You must regularly visit your church to discuss your wedding with your priest

A wedding planner local to that area would be invaluable, whether to speak the local language or to recommend great venues and caterers, there are some things you just can’t do yourself! Choose a professional wedding planner who knows the area that you are thinking of going, the UK alliance of wedding planners are a fabulous association and have a few reputable wedding planners based throughout the world.

Think carefully about numbers, who would travel and who wouldn’t. It can be quite a panic and a hassle to get everyone on your guest list to your chosen country, if you’re struggling to cut down on your list I’d recommend having another get together with everyone else when you return to the UK.

If you chose to get married abroad, consider the venue, climate and wedding style when choosing your wedding dress. Did you know that a column, A-line or princess wedding dress is sometimes cooler than a fishtail? Here at Caroline Clark Bridal Boutique, along with helping you create your perfect wedding day look, we can also help package your dress to ensure it arrives safely.

So there you have it, not as much of a hassle as you first thought? All in all weddings abroad are a perfect way to celebrate your special day, so if you’re looking for you or someone else, then congratulations, and enjoy the day!

16th March 2016 by Carrie

Congratulations you have chosen your beautiful wedding dress! What an exciting milestone, now you are able to find the perfect wedding hairstyle to finish your beautiful bridal look, but where do you start?

wedding hairstyles blonde

8 months to go

Decide where you will get your wedding hairstyle done- at home or the salon? Which did you choose?

If you are getting your hair done at the salon, work out the logistics of getting their and home with your posh do. Remember you will need to start getting your hair done at least five hours before the wedding- you may need more time if you have lots of bridesmaids.

Decide if you want to grow your hair for the big day.

Book your hairdresser for you & your bridesmaids on your wedding day to make sure you get the time you need in the salon. Choose a hairdresser you know or one who has been recommended if possible.

6 months to go

Start collecting images of  wedding hairstyles you like.

Look for models in magazines in similar dresses to see what looks good.

Decide whether you want your hair up or down. Did you go for a structured up do or relaxed and loosely down?

Book a style consultation with your hairdresser and talk through your ideas. Use the appointment to work out if you want a new colour, a new style and to experiment with styles. Book your trial for one month before your big day.

Confirm your wedding day appointments for you, your Mum and your bridesmaids.

Choose your hair accessories and veil to make sure it is their in time for the trial.

1 month to go

Treat your hair to a pamper session, either at a salon or at home.

Time for your trial. Visit your hairdresser to try your hair styles. Remember to take your veil, hair accessories and any pictures you have. Ask whether you need to wash your hair the day before or the morning of your wedding.

2 weeks to go

Have your final cut and colour, allowing your hair to settle into the new style.

1 week to go

The final countdown- confirm your appointment with your hairdresser and treat your hair to another mask.

Your wedding day

Remember to wear a top you don’t have to take off over your head, you will be putting your veil and hair accessories on before you put on your dress.

Sit back and relax- let the hair dresser do their magic and create your gorgeous wedding hairstyle.

Remember, try not to make your hair too different, your future husband wants to recognise you! What hair tips would you recommend?
